Context: Throughout the Upper Room Discourse, Jesus has made many statements that require an empowering agent for the doing of them. Here in John 16, Jesus is explaining that the Holy Spirit is the one who empowers us. He is not just a gift to believers because He convicts the world of sin, but He is also the one who teaches us the truth about Christ.
